Relatively easy on the technical side, sandy and rocky easy to follow trails take you on hikes that vary in difficulty mainly depending on the duration of the trail.

Saladero Viewpoint

  • Duration: 1 and a half hour.
  • Difficulty: Low
  • Altitude: 250 m
  • Route: Arrival by vehicle to the Eastern boundary of El Desafio. Enter the Nature Reserve from its eastern side. After passing the valley viewpoint, there is an uphill zigzag path leading to another viewpoint, from where you can enjoy the view of the Andes mountain range, and El Desafío’s landscape in its entirety.

El Desafío Summit

  • Duration: 3 hours
  • Difficulty: Medium, with high exposure to sun
  • Altitud: 600 m
  • Route: This route takes you to the highest peak in the nature reserve. The initial climb is relatively steep, overlooking a steppe area. The climbing continues on the mountain ridge until the summit, from where you will admire all of the Chapelco Range and the valleys of the Lacar and Nonthué.
